Subcription Boxes for January 2014

I am a love of subscription boxes. I wanted to review one each day of the month of  February but due to certain circumstances I will only be reviewing a  few.  Here are the ones I am expecting to come in within the next few weeks.

Pay It Forward- Random Act of Kindness - Peg it Forward

As the holidays come to a end and the new years begins, don't let the good feeling disappear with the hustle and bustle of your normal routine coming back to order.

I was reading one of my favorite blogger Ramblings of a suburban mom "Sunday Sentiments Segment" and it completely reminded me of something small I did on my Instagram last year.

 

Pay it Forward - for those that not might know is when someone does something nice for you unexpectedly and your repay the favor by doing something nice for someone else. Keep the chain going, you may never know how it will it effects someone else's day or even life.

 

Last year I put up a post on instagram

about pay it forward and the first 3-5 people that commented received a package from me in the mail, through out the year. It was random they did not know when it was coming or what was in it.

Only request that was made was that they pay it forward also. Some of the people that participated did the same thing and made a post on instagram while others did random acts of kindness locally in their area.

 

Today while looking on Intstagram I came across another kind of pay it forward. This is more simple and a great idea. Its called Peg It Forward.

One of the most simple and Kind things you can ever give someone is kind words.

For this RAOK-Random Act of Kindness you right something nice, encouraging words on a peg and attach it to a random stranger.

Just the thought of someone having a terrible day and by the time they get home or finally sit down they find a peg attached to their Purse, Backpack, Jacket or whatever you attached it with words like "U are Awesome" "SMILE" "Beautiful" etc... Will bring a smile to their face.

As for me I will be choosing 9 people randomly, 3 from my blog (Must comment below with your email)  3 from my instagram, and 3 from my twitter.

They will all receive a surprise from me in the mail through out the year. It will come at random and will be a surprise. Only thing I ask is that you Pay it forward.

I will also be pegging a few people out there :)

My INSTAGRAM for 2013.

 

Statigram is app that has been used a lot at the end December, It takes your most liked pictures ((well I think))  and puts them together for you in a video.

Here is the run down on my pictures.

1.My Goodbye to 2012

2.My DIY nail polish rack. I used frame my mom bought at a thrift store, went to a local hardware store and got the back measured. the man at the hardware store cut up the back board and little shelfs for me. I came home glued it all together and spray painted it bronze..

3.KEEP CALM AND LOVE A TATTOOED WOMAN WITH CURVES - Self explanatory ;)

4. My Messy makeup and nail polish collection which has grown massively , Plus all my bathbombs from lush.

5. All the Subscription/sample boxes that were waiting for me when I got back from my week vacation in Puerto Rico.

6. A beauty swap my friend Lynette from Singapore held . She sent me a box of goodies I cant find here in New York and I sent her a box of Goodies she cant get in Singapore.

 

 

Fancy Box Coco Rocha December 2013

I was not expecting this in the mail today since I didn't receive a email with the tracking.

 

Fancy Box has a few different boxes unlike other subscription box service. They have the regular fancy box and Celebrity curated boxes that the Celebrity "picks out themselves" for the box. I am not sure how involved they really are with picking the items. The celebrities range from actors , singers to cooks.. Ashton Kutcher, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Pink and Tyler Florence are just some of the few. The also have a Food Fancy Box .

Only problem I have with them is their boxes usually arrive the beginning of the following month from what the month is suppose to be. For example I received the December box in January. Its not that much of a issue but I would prefer if it would come on the month it is catered to.

 

OK now lets get into the good stuff! What came in the box

 

First thing is this Envelope with your receipt, smalls cards showing the products and a little description explaining why the item was picked. Some stickers are added also.

Pendelton Notebook Collection $13 These are perfect to carry in your purse or keep around to write down notes. They have various prints on the fancy site.

 

 

Greetings Card by Rifle Paper Co.  A single card is $5 A set of 12 stationary are $22. I couldn't find this exact one on the site but they have for different occasions . I think this card is so cute and since Valentines is coming up I will be putting it to good use.

 

Quay  Marley Sunglasses . $40 These cute funky sunglasses are a Australian brand that all the stars have been wearing recently. Especially in the Cali area. They also have been featured in Vogue Daily, The Zoe Report and many magazines. I love them but at the moment I don't think I will be wearing them, I am not sure if they are a right fit for my face., But I will keep them on stand by to see if I change my mind soon.

 

 

OK so I saved my favorite thing out this Box for last, Ted Baker Spot Manicure Kit. $50 This has to be the cutest manicure set I have ever seen, The floral print is pretty and feminine. Its small enough to carry in your a bag but not to small that it will get lost. The inside is a nice bright florescent pink. Includes 2 files 1 nail clipper 1 tweezers and a pair of nail pliers. All these items do come in handy. This would of been a great gift for a real nail lover during the holidays. I will be getting lots of use out of this.

 

The total I got for this box was $108. I ordered this box during black Friday when they had a 30% off and free shipping. I really don't remember the exact amount I paid since I ordered 2 boxes, which was about 29 each. Not bad for that price. Cant wait to see what the future boxes bring.

Nude'atude !!!

I know winter is just beginning but I am dreaming of spring already. Mainly cause the holidays are over :(.. With the exception of Valentines and my Birthday coming. So to get me out of this little funk I went to my local Rite Aid to do a little retail therapy and Came across some beauties. I AM IN LOVE!!! 

Most of the drug store makeup lines are coming out with Nude colors to match every ones skin tone. I am thinking it is because MAC is coming out with a line doing the same thing.

 

I only picked up 4 items 2 from Maybelline and 2 from Loreal .

 

Lets start off with the Maybelline Collection THE BUFFS

 

The collection has 8shades , I choose 2 that thought would suit my skin tone.

I am fair tone with lots of freckles, usually nudes make me look washed out but I was very pleased with the 2 I chose .

 

I chose 920-NUDE LUST and 935-SIN A MON $8.89

920 is a light nude with a slight light pink to it and 935 is a nude with a hint of brown.

I had to swipe them a few times to get the color transfer on my lips but the colors are gorgeous with a light shine to them. Which I love since I am more of a Matte girl.

For the Loreal I picked up 2 polishes from their PRIVEE collection, They do have the lipsticks but the are not available around my area yet. This collection has 6 polishes.

Which look great on especially with a nice French tip

 

 

I chose 630-Liya's Nude and 600-Doutzen's Nude. $5.99  This like was curated but celebrities to match their skin tones.

 

 

 

630 is a nice Mauve Brownish color and 600 is a light flesh nude. I will be going back for another 600 since it is my type of color that I love getting pedicures with. My only disappointment is that you may have to do a few coats since with 1 coat it is very streaky and light, a thicker formula would be nice.

 

One last thing I picked up doesn't have to do with the nude collection but I been looking for a nice navy blue polish and came across REVLONS Nail art collection. $8.99

The navy I found dries out to a matte but I figured I can pass a coat of clear polish to make it shine. but I actually like the matte finish.

This collection has a lot of colors to it so I didn't get the exact amount of how many were released but the displayed looked like it had over 20 polishes. It is a double ended polish the other side is a nice shiny blue.

 

This is in the color 510 Pinstripe $8.99

I think this is going to be good to play with now since its a dark color and we are in the winter season.
